Getting ready for your child’s photoshoot a really fun time and it can also be a bit stressful sometimes for Mums and Dads.

You want these photographs to capture all of those special moments you see everyday.  You want these images to provide you a way to remember you child at this age for the rest of your life…  So the pressure is on, or is it?

Don’t worry, there’s no need to panic we have top tips for getting the most out of your child’s photo shoot.

POSITIVE EXPERIENCE – For older children chat to them about the session in a positive way, the session will be fun and there is no pressure for them to perform, they are just coming to play.

FULL TUMMIES, HAPPY CHILDREN – Make sure your children aren’t hungry so make sure they have their breakfast or lunch before they arrive, schedule the session so that it doesn’t overlap with their regular mealtimes.

PLAYTIME – Bring some items from home that the children love, toys, books, teddies, musical instruments, pets etc, personal items that will remind you of your child at this age.

ITS ALL CHANGE – Maybe some of the biggest stresses about your session are what they should wear, I’d suggest bring your choices different tops and bottoms add extras like hats, jackets hairbands, I can always suggest combinations when we have a chat at the beginning of the session.

HAVE FUN! – Don’t worry if the resulting photographs will be perfect, embrace that kids aren’t perfect and just have fun.  The greatest photos are the ones which are a reflection of your child as they are now.  The cheeky monkeys, the shy and loving and all the children in between… Enjoy the shoot as a time to embrace how fun, crazy and wonderful your children are!
